Two Cokes to go
The Outpost has numerous Coke coolers and machines arriving from around the world, including these two on pallets. You can still read the old Coke lettering under the logos translated to other languages. Next question - can you identify what part of the world these two would belong in? This isn't a pop quiz since I don't know the answer myself but it would be interesting to find out!

Big Thunder Iron Works
Standing at the station waiting to board the train there is machinery sharing the platform with you. Take a close look at what appears to be a boiler - the manufacturer's plate has a rather familiar logo with a slightly different name. Looks like the railroad is in the iron works business too...

That's some fancy trash
Everything about the Grand Floridian is fancy - even the trash cans are swanky! Look at it - flowers growing out of the top and everything. They blend right in to the decor around the resort...

Red Wing pots far from home
In the queue at Big Thunder there are a couple of Red Wing Pottery made pots. Being that I'm from Minnesota and Red Wing (both the city and factory) is only an hour south of me it is a nice little taste of home. And they fit the theme perfectly, these things have a long history and were popular back in the "frontier days". This 10 gallon is positioned so you can easily see the stampings on the ramp down to the loading platforms...

Safety first
Seems to be the gang at Muppet Vision have a minor safety issue judging by the sign hanging in the Studio One Company Store. It was a valiant effort but getting past 1 day might be a bit difficult for these guys...

Desktop: Hang on to your hats and glasses...
It's another Monday, time to head back to work and if you are like me, time to change the desktop on the computer. How about going for a ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad today?
Look at all the details that add to the story, from the obvious (the starved dinosaur, look at the poor guy - you can see his bones) to the subtle (track appears to be washed out with broken ties, etc.). Plus there are tools, a miner's lantern and more. There is a lot to take in with just one view point, not to mention the fact that a train will be rush by out of control in just a few moments...

Another colorful tiki
Over at the Polynesian it seems like it is spring all year round. While the growing season barely exists where I live there are always fresh flowers at the resort no matter what time of year. So since the first official day of spring was this week we take a look at yet another tiki at the resort that happens to be planted with the colorful plants...

Right this way
Looking for your bus? Or maybe it was your car... You have no excuses for getting lost with this sign outside the front gate planted in the flower bed. Most people head right on by it since they know where they are headed but for those in doubt here's a beacon of hope after walking around the world. Before you leave be sure to check out the classic logo on the bottom.

A sweet Mickey
Next time you are shopping at the Confectionary take a look around - there are endless details to notice. The holes in the sucker holder are little hidden Mickeys - now would these qualify as hidden Mickey ice cream bars? Look at it, the traditional head plus the stick, it just might work....

Just the facts, please
The cops would like to have a word with you for a minute. They have a few questions - mainly, did you notice any suspicious traffic cones in the area? The props department seems to be missing theirs and would like them back so if you see them please let the authorities at NYPD, Detroit Police, or DCPD know...

Level 13 - now closed
It would appear that the folks at Big Thunder have a bit of an issue on level 13 and have closed it off. Not sure if it is flooding or a cave in or maybe just a stroke of bad luck with the unlucky level...
The Backside of Water will be rather quiet for a few days but I'll be back mid-week. Be sure to check out all the other links out there while I'm off - see ya real soon!

Batteries not included
After you save the universe once again at Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin keep an eye out for these batteries. They are located near the entrance and warrent a second look, espcially at the labeling. Made in Glendale, CA, USA, Earth, Gamma Quadreant. Yes, that Glendale, home of Imagineering... Remember, not for use in sub-orbital vehicles.

Waiting to chime in...
This modest temple and bell in the China Pavilion sit near the exit to the theatre and small shopping plaza by the rear entrance to Yong Feng Shangdian. This can be a very tranquil area to relax and reflect for a bit, especially after the movie crowd passes...

Lorry loading zone
Back in the Streets of America there are still a couple of signs from when one side of the San Francisco block used to be London. Here is one on them tucked back by the gate at the Muppet Vision queue...

Desktop: Drinkwallah
I received a couple questions about doing desktop backgrounds, so over the weekend I dug around some of the images that I use as backgrounds and home and work. Today we're off to the Animal Kingdom for a refreshment break. These colorful boats are docked at the base of the bridge to Asia and are loaded with a shipment of familiar bottles... Check out all the detail on the cargo loads, not to mention the neat paint job on the boats.
When you click on the photo, right click and chose "set as background", it should work for screens up to 1600x1200. Not sure how it will work for wide screen users, between work and home computers none of them are that fancy yet! If this works well I'll try to make it an occasional series... As always, feedback is appreciated!

Member Number 1
In Mickey's house in Toontown you can find his Mickey Mouse Club card on display on one of the bookshelves. His member number? Why #1 of course!

Rue D'Baga
Next time you are over at the Port Orleans French Quarter resort be sure to look down. The street corners have tile street signs in the cement sidewalks, adding even more to the charm of this resort. Here's a favorite street at the resort - just say it. Come on, I'm waiting...

Stellar sundaes
Tucked into Tomorrowland, Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies is where you can go for frozen treats. It is a small counter serve joint but there is just something about the name - why can't I have an aunt with a cool name like that?

Testing, testing - is this thing on?
As you exit Rockin' Roller Coaster on your way to the concert (which I still have yet to find) take a look around you. Part of the gift shop has a wall of sound mixing equipment, on top of the shelf is another classic storage area with all sorts of neat clutter.

Mail call
I want this mailbox for home! If you look closely around the lobby of the Polynesian you can find this hanging up on the wall. Let's see, if I pack tools next time and create a distraction...

High flying meals
The Taste Pilot's Grill, right next to Soarin', has some good theming and I almost passed by their logo on the sign out front. Look at the plane on the logo - the fork and spoon are a great touch. And their food sure beats airline grub - try the Wild Bleu Yonder Burger, its nothing like anything you've ever tasted on a plane.

Hotel du Canada
The Hotel du Canada is modeled after the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa. The hotel was a Canadian National Hotel (a branch of the Canadian National Railway) before being bought by Fairmont Hotels. Today the Hotel du Canada is a landmark in the World Showcase and is one of those hotels that, much like the Hollywood Tower Hotel, you can only dream about booking night or two...
