Paint Specs

Hey, at least Johnny is going to call someone who knows instead of just blow you off! Johnny does seem to take a lot of abuse around the Backlot Express...

A quiet walkway...

...Leads to the Rancho del Zocalo. Fountains, plants, stucco fascades, the whole area really feels the part and even if it is hot in Frontierland it seems to automatically cool off as you walk around el Rancho.

In a galaxy far, far away

With the upcoming rehab and show change for Star Tours we take a look at the travel poster hanging up on the soundstage housing the attraction. Featuring Rex, R2D2, C3P0, the StarSpeeder 3000 and more it mimics the movie posters for the original Star Wars triology...

Rancho del Zocalo

This ornate metal and tile sign welcomes you to the tasty eatery known as Rancho del Zocalo. It is a wonderfully themed eatery with mixed indoor outdoor seating, good food, and a relaxed feel which makes it a perfect spot for a mid-day break.

Desktop: Surf's Up

This week our desktop is one piece of the huge tile mural at the entrance to DCA. The mural is quite detailed and you better get your photos now, with the new DCA "Main Street" on the way it won't be around forever...

Starry lights

Rancho del Zocalo is a wonderful place to eat in Disneyland, the atmosphere and food are both excellent. The lighting is especially interesting as it consists of lots of neat lamps, including this star patterned ones that look good during the day but fantastic at night...

Galactic Archeology

The galaxy is full of things waiting to be found - including the skeletons of long lost creatures on planets far away. What better way to ship them than with FedEx? This scene was part of the Space Mountain exit queue, which luckily they did not eliminate when they rebuilt the ride last year. It has changed, of course, but at least there is still an entertaining storyline as you ride on the speedramp back to Tomorrowland...

Desktop: Police Line

This week's Desktop takes place at Monahan's Freight Co. One of the studio tour trams had a bit of an issue with the brakes and added some nice natural air conditioning to their warehouse.

Amazing what you can do with a sharpie and construction ruler! Of course this cute little dinosaur can only be found at Chester and Hester's in Dinoland...

Back at the lab...

Oh no! The Lab retriever is chewing on the samples sent in and the robot in charge appears to be less than happy with him! This is part of the final scene in the entertaining old Space Mountain post-queue.

Your train is here

This New York City subway car (well, the cab of one at least) greets you on your journey behind the scenes on the Backlot Tour. Used in the short film "The Lottery" it appears to be an old NYCT R16 subway car still covered in graffiti and grit.

Get yer photos!

If you look close you can see where they painted over the old sign for the new meet-and-greet sign in Dinoland. A creative job that is rather authentic to the old Route 66 trail they are mimicking...
